The Town of Neenah Fire Department is always looking to hire dedicated and motivated individuals with a passion for helping others and community service.
Please see the information below to see if you're interested in joining our team.

Employment Requirements:

  • Must be 18 years of age and a United States citizen
  • Have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Possess a valid Wisconsin driver’s license
  • Complete the requisite job application

If you meet these initial requirements and have a positive can-do attitude with the ability to work well with others, your application will be reviewed by the Officers of the Fire Department. If selected for the interview process, you will be scheduled for a preliminary meeting with the Fire Chief and one other officer and if recommended, will meet with a larger group of department Officers. Following the final interview, the candidate will be advised whether their application will be forwarded to the Town Board for a final review. The Town Board does all hiring based on recommendations from the Fire Chief. Candidates will also be required to pass a background investigation with reference checks. Once hiring is approved, you will be brought on as a Probationary Firefighter or EMR (First Responder) and will remain on probation until you complete the in-house Recruit Academy, Wisconsin Firefighter I Certification or Wisconsin EMR licensure (whichever is appropriate) and complete one year of active service and participation (successful class completion or one year of active service whichever is longer).

For newly hired Firefighters or EMRs, the Department will pay for your initial training classes, all equipment, and uniform. Should the Probationary Firefighter not be able to complete any of the requirements of probation, the employee will be released, and all issued equipment must be returned.
